Destruction of wild life
Destruction of wildlife is happening frequently all over the world. We had a large number of wildlife in all the corners of the world but now their population has become less compared to earlier. Mostly, the animals are killed and poached for their horn, skin, bone, etc. as these fetch easy money.
Tibet is a very cold country due to its geographical position. Here, we can find large number of wild animals. Tibetans are using and wearing the pelts of endangered wild animals like tigers and leopards which are trimmed and stitched on the hem of their traditional garment. Disturbance of the ecological balance in nature tends to have far reaching consequences on human life. This has threatened the very existence of animals because their natural habitat is shrinking. If these animals get extinct, the ecological balance will be threatened and the result is clear for the survival of people of this world. The concept of survival of Tibet’s wildlife as an ecological ‘time bomb’ is waiting to explode and disappear in the near future.
The complex ecosystem of Tibet is a home for many endangered species such as the giant panda, drong (wild yak), and antelope, while lipped deer, snow leopard and many other rare species.
Through the centuries, human activity didn’t interfere with nature. This resulted in a wildlife population explosion to such an extent that sometimes nomads had to hunt the wildlife in order to control the increasing number as they had competed with the nomads livestock for grazing and also in the past before 1959, many western travelers to Tibet had found wildlife in plenty, wherever they went. They described Tibet as one of few places on earth where wild animals migrate freely, going wherever there want to. But now their number of population has become very popular. Their parts like skin is also used for costumes because Tibetans are using the skins of animals on their dresses and also some of animal skull are use to make Bangle. So at last, most of the animals have become extinct and are becoming endangered species. It is a punishable activity. For example, recently actor Salman Khan was arrested for killing a black buck.
It is not the case of present only. But in past also hunting and poaching were frequent. For example: Dodo was killed many years back for its meat. Many great rulers of India had a hobby of hunting animals. This also endangered the species of animals.
